    Can anyone advise on the process of Rammed earth construction and its pro's and con's?

    Unless you're planning to store it in jars, I suggest you google for "rammed earth".
    I think Jammed Earth are a Duran Duran tribute band :)

    Why have some of the later absurd but amusing digressions been edited out of this thread? I realise this is a serious forum (and a brilliant one, I think), but surely one (bit of a) thread can be given over to mere frivolity now and again?

    Apologies for the miss-spelt subject topic I believe this may be a better starting point for discussion. The pro’s and con’s of using ‘Rammed Earth’ construction. I have been away for quite a while and again apologies for not correcting this error earlier. Thanks though for the useful comments that have come in!

    If anyone could help out that would be great.

    Hi thanks again, I was primarily looking at this topic with relation to an article I saw about a failed rammed earth structure. This all relates to an essay I am trying to write about sustainable building construction and architects risk awareness. I was looking for a broad knowledge base to understand the Pros and cons relating to this construction.

    What about stabalised rammed earth.

    Can any one comment on both. Like to know, I find the stabilised rammed earth earth buildings in Australia good to look at, compared to similar materials like concrete (and other materials/methods which involve binding materials together). cf http://www.earthstructures.co.uk/ , http://www.rammedearthenterprises.com.au/gallery.html , http://www.rammedearthconstructions.com.au/photos.html
    I personally think rammed earth is not resiliant enough and a binding material is needed. hence stabilised.
