Having surveyed the policies of my local Counties, I've come to the conclusion that "Green", in the local area, really means "Conservation". There's nothing wrong with this and the various think-tanks seem chock-a-block with those that promote a return to an agrarian lifestyle. They may be right.

But it's a bit pessimistic. There is a possibility that innovation rather than reversion may work.

Which Counties (if any) have a political leadership that takes this second "optimistic" point of view and incorporates that view in their Policy?

Why Devon Tom?

How would we find out and rate Devon Tom?

I currently only employ indirectly in the local area and all our work is in London or exported outside the local area: so it would be relatively easy to relocate to somewhere more in tune with what I'm trying to achieve.

But how do you rate Counties without spending months at it? This only came up because I've been comparing the actual policies of a County near you (Somerset) to my local counties: It takes a very long time because you have to delve very deeply into local policy to find out which way the wind is really blowing.

Why wait for central government, Jon? You'll hear the ice floes grinding in hell before anything's done. Try a bottom up approach - write to MPs, local council officers, councillors, attend parish meetings, recruit like-minded people in your community, etc. Don't try to find out everything yourself. Formulate the questions you want answered carefully and send them in - they have to give you an answer.
After all, government is us; we pay for everything one way or another and remember, most public servants are on our side (they are just as committed to doing a good job) and will respond to a positive approach better than an aggressive one.
If all this fails, STIR IT UP!
