After a lengthy meeting with the architects on our newbuild, we have opted for a block & beam floor as shown on the attached drawing.
For insulation in the floor they have specified a Celotex system with Marmox blocks in the interior masonry to stop the cold bridging. I said i would give it some thought but in the back of my mind I felt that there had to be a smarter solution. After some research, I found this Tetris system, www.cellecta.co.uk/cellecta-brands/tetris-structural-floor-beam-block-flooring-systm/ that looks far easier to lay, you can walk on it and attach the UF heating direct before screeding.
Has anyone had experience of Tetris or maybe can suggest a better alternative? -

Not seen this one before but there are several B&B systems that use insulation as the infil. Cube6 was one I looked at but they would not supply me in Scotland. I used a B&B system last time but have decided on a solid concrete floor this time. -

I am also looking at Cube6. I particularly like the way the insulation blocks wrap under the beams but the downside compared to the Tetris, is that it looks like you cannot walk on it.
Cellecta (makers of Tetris) are at Ecobuild, so will go and have a chat when I visit next Wednesday.
Borpin - Did you get as far as finding out the cost of Cube6? -

Pug, is the new build to be timber frame or masonry?
edit- just looked at the drawing that shows timber frame. You need to consider upstands for internal and external load bearing walls. -

Cube6 came in at around £7k for 156m2 at 0.1 W/m2k, if that is any good or not I don't know?

Just some feedback on the Tetris system (I don't work for them)
Our Groundworkers won't shut up about how brilliant it is and plan to recommend it on to other clients.
The positives are that it is very light and easy to handle, can be cut with a handsaw and unlike all the other B & B insulated floors, you can walk on it. All of these factors have sped up this part of the build.
Using the 160mm FF (foil faced) we are expecting performance to be around 0.12 W/m2k.
The only down side was that when the guys stopped for lunch, they sat on the Tetris that they had laid, but had to move as their bums got too hot!
I also see that the House Builder National awards have just nominated Tetris as one of the final ten products to have made it through to the final for 'Best Product of 2012', so I guess we will be seeing more of it in the future.
