Do you know if I can go ahead and get it installed before the July deadline and still qualify for the 21p payment even if I have to get the EPC up to spec afterwards?
2) AFAIK, EPC has to be in your hand when MCS cert is issued to get that FiT level; cannot currently be done retrospectively though it is conceivable that that might change...
Some companies (but of course not the one I used to work for) fit the panels so that they get assessed with everything else.
What happens is that the EPC assessor does an easement, shows the score and the potential improvement of changing things, assuming it can pass with just the PV fitted, the PV gets fitted and then the place gets reassessed, all the paperwork goes off and things carry on as normal.
Hi Tony Damon's right, the rate doesn't go up until 1 August - so the deadline is now Midnight 31 July to get all the paperwork in. To be eligible a system must have MCS certificate and EPC certificate plus FIT application form all lodged with your FIT supplier. It doesn't matter how long you take after the installation of PV to get your EPC certificate, as long as you don't send your application to your FIT supplier. If you do, you'll just get 9p.
