SIP flat roofs should be considered cold flat roofs. If the SIP engineer can justify it's use of the panel flat, then it would need something like a breather membrane over the top, followed by timber furrings creating a minimum 50mm vented void, then a deck material such as plywood, and finally the waterproof roof covering. Inside would require a VCL and plasterboard (with or without additional battens for a service void).

Beam and block details are fairly easy if using a service void on the inside of the wall with a masonry upstand.

Can you be a little more specific in your questions?

 Thanks for your response Timber,

I am thinking out loud here so bear with me!

I had been looking for construction details of flat roofs online and come up with virtually nothing!
My architect has no experience of sips but was keen to use them but also seems to be drawing blanks (I dont want him to change his mind).

The short span is just shy of 4 metres with a roof lantern which is another area i could find no details of (trimming out etc). Also, how a large opening for a very wide patio door would be achieved?

I had thought firring pieces may be the way to go.

I am not sure what roof covering could be used. I'd like to use a butyl sheeting product.

Examples of beam and block I have seen pretty much all had weak thermal separation at the floor/soul plate juncture. I wonder if a sips floor would make sense?

The sips I have been looking at have splines made of 4 x 2's which I am not overly happy with (because of the thermal bridge).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
