Keep in mind the client has a duty to employ competent persons, and in particular the CDM-C has, as a minimum, the obligations for:

1.To give suitable and sufficient advice to clients to allow the client to compete their own duties under the CDM regulations;
2.Advise the client about selecting designers and contractors;
3.Help identify what information will be needed by contractors and designers (develop the pre-construction information pack), and advise the client if surveys need to be commissioned to fill significant gaps;
4.Coordinate the arrangements for health and safety of planning and other preparation for construction where relevant to health and safety;
5.Notify the HSE of the work (via the F10 form);
6.Advise on the suitability of the construction phase plan developed by the principal contractor;
7.Prepare a health and safety file for the client (for safe future use, cleaning, maintenance and alterations of the building).

I'd not be doing that lot for £500 notes - or in effect for about 1 days worth of effort

My company do carry out CDM work, and for a project like that, then £1000 to £1500 would be a good starting point]]>
