I'm reading the installation instructions for shower panels (such as splash panels) and they talk of using an adhesive to glue them to wooden battens. However as I've infilled my studwork with foil covered PIR boards I have taped over the studwork with foil tape. Presumably an adhesive won't stick to the tape.

Take the tape off? Not great for VCL, but good for not having your shower walls fall off.
  2.
Ive done this by painting on a PVA and sand mix.

.. try DryFix low-expansion foam adhesive. It sticks to 'anything'!

    Good luck:smile:

Screw a strip of thin ply to the battens over the tape then glue to that? Bit of silicone on the back of the ply to reduce leakage round screws?

Thanks, I was thinking of screwing some 5mm ply on first and then gluing to that (advantage is I have some ply left over from other things) but I hadn't thought of just putting it on the battens.

What has happened is that I didn't plan ahead thoroughly enough. The original vague plan was to put up plasterboard on the taped studwork as I had done in other rooms, then tile it. Then I realised that the extra thickness of the tiles would be too much for the window reveal, which is meant to protrude slightly.

PVA isn't known for it's ability to stick to metal. I wouldn't risk that. I've used PVA glue as a temporary locking compound on nuts/bolts for the very reason it was easy to remove.

You are right CWatters, I should have been more precise. Its a mix of Sikalatex, cement powder and sand.
