Having had EWI to the rear and IWI to the front of my mid terrace completely free under the green deal scheme I'm pretty happy.

Although since being on here there are a few things missed :

    EWI
Not brought down to ground level
Exposed original render below EWI was left as is ie in bad state of repair
Window arches not completed, they said it is down to the window company to address
They used my fascia board I had on site for the new sills, no sill caps fitted
    Downpipes not refitted
The pre coloured render is a bit patchy in places
Lean to roof lead was cut short not the best finish

    IWI
    No insulation to adjacent walls
No insulation between ground floor and first floor ie in the floor board void

I guess considering it was free I can't really complain but should I? They seem easy to remedy so should I just do it?

well just because its free to you doesn't mean someone isn't paying.
those organising , surveying , installing , managing grants ain't doing it for free
In fact we're all paying for you to have your EWI , you can thank me later :)
By the way I'm happy to have my taxes directed toward such things

So that being the case, poor quality workmanship , poor design and service cant be considered to
be environmental friendly . No point fitting an energy saving improvement that fail before it's even recover its installation energy cost ( embodied energy etc.) and doesn't perform to design life.
Design life is used to decided the value of the energy reduction improvement so if incorrect then perhaps another solution might have been a better option.

But are they asked to spec IWI on adjacent walls for instance?

But are they asked to spec IWI on adjacent walls for instance?

What did their spec say? If they are working down to a price it would not surprise me that they did not do the returns.

RE the EWI stopping short of gr level, there is a mis-match between the ideas on here and the stipulations of the 'system' providers. They seem to want EWI to stop above DPC. With retrofit DPCs this often means the EWI is 150mm above gr floor level. Crazy, but wouldn't get system provider's g'tee if it went lower. Mad!

Looking at your list I would say there is at least one item which they definitely should have completed - refitting downpipes.

Under the Green Deal T&C's for installers they must provide you with an insurance backed guarantee - See page 9 here http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/admin/documents/GDHIF%20Terms%20and%20Conditions%20INSTALLER%20v2.1.pdf

Which states that there can be no damge to the building as a consequence of the works - leaving downpipes will certainly do that over time.

Lots more detail on what an installer is and isn't responsible for

Was this ECO funded or Green Deal funded ?

I understood green deal in it present form to be done on the bacis.

Where it was part funded by a (25%) contribution from home owner or occupier and possibly Houseing Trust ,

This being by either a loan repayment being collected over time by the Electricity supplier or an outright payment made before the work is commenced .

With the other 75% being met by the taxpayer (government ) from the green deal fund by way of a Voucher .

If this is incorrect can someone correct me please.

    thanks
  4.
Pretty much correct except that the arrangement for payment timescale is between the homeowner and whomever is doing the work - so not necessarily before the work is started. I certainly would not pay 25% upfront unless I knew the contractor very well beforehand. On completion or at a predetermined stage - yes
  5.
Ah right, my bad it was the last of the eco funding for 2013
  6.
In that case the rules may have been different- I don't know that much about ECO. I expect there are similarT&C's for ECO Providers online somewhere but a quick google doesn't find anything. You could always contact GOV.UK and ask?

    Victorianeco

So you were lucky enough to have had an old gas boiler and have that replaced as well.

That was luck I did not have; as I had installed a condensing boiler and so I had to wait for the GD .

I am sure Mike is right the installer will have had to comply with Terms & conditions that may have been set by the Energy Supplier that did the funding ,

As far as I know at one time the Energy Companies were in a bidding process to pay installers for work they had done. so as to meet their " Targets " that had been set for them by Ofgem on berhalf of the Government

    http://www.happyenergy.co.uk/eco-update-22-may-2014/

wii open a few eyes I suspect if you care to read and possibly understand how the modern world works .

    No gas boiler?
