    Dear All,
Being new to this, I'm not able to enter into the technical discussions much - but would ask your advice on the following
due to a copper pipe disaster (cheap copper badly lagged and laid into concrete) the entire ground floor of what was our dream home is being dug up. The beautiful kitchen is now on a skip - but we can start again from scratch with help from our insurance company. Apart from a new kitchen, we will need to install a new boiler and heating system. It is a large-ish house (made so by the fact that there are 4 bathrooms)but we only use 2 of the bedrooms/bathrooms.
What would you suggest? We have room for a small turbine and/or solar panels - but I'm not sure that a solar option would provide enough power?

No chance of doing any insulating I suppose?

I strongly suspect that you will now go for plastic pipes which can be connected back up to all the existing things -- cheapest option.

New boiler condensing please. Why do you need a new one?

Fitting solar hot water is a good idea for all of us.

The turbine is a waste of money and noisy and not worth it.

Solar panels won't provide enough power/hot water in the winter. Why don't you rent out your spare rooms to earn a bit extra cash which will help pay for your solar panels. Or sell up and buy a smaller house.

Perhaps a factor in the decision .. see table..Compare "Pence per kWh after boiler efficiency"..
