Monday 25th Feb ran a prototype trial of a part plane spherical solar collector

The collector, based on a 1.44 sq m part plane area, went from just over 0 degrees C to 100 degrees C in 40 minutes. This equates to a collection rate of about half a kilowatt. The trial was done between 10:10 in the morning and 10:50am and equates to solar gains of about 320 watts per sq metre

The total prototype cost was £60.

It's not bad Tom. More importantly, it's cheap. Carbon Trust submission yesterday.

Did they submit, or was it a knockout?

Something else but I think Keith's going to run it in the next issue. This thread is just a follow-on from the ringshell project.
