    The building regulations state:

1.32 Access for clearing bloackages - rodding points should be provided in discharge stacks to give access to any lengths of pipe which cannot be reached from any part of the system.

How does this apply to individual 45 degree bends (i.e. not 2x45 close together to form long radius)? Can rods bend around them? I would have thought so.

I have a rodding eye for the 110 mm soil pipe that runs under the house from our kitchen sink. The soil pipe extends away from the drain to the far side of the house and is then brought to the surface via a 45° bend. The architect designed it, the BI has accepted it, and as far as I can see it is perfectly usable, so I guess it's OK. Haven't had to use it yet though

Never needed, I have seen them at branches high up on walls to clear horizontal runs.

All bends should be clearable, our inspectors would allow one slow radius 135 bend on any run and a few times we got away with two between manholes (one could be cleared from each direction) in practice modern "ridding equipment" will go round almost any bend.

Bottom line is it is down to individual inspectors opinion so keep yours sweet.

Note a "135 bend" is the same as a 45 degree bend.
