As I understand it most highly insulated doors are some sort of polystyrene poly-something derivative. THis is bad for sound attenuation. Its therefore not surprising that I am struggling to find any noise performance data in relation to them. I need a minimum of 40db. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

There are plenty of specialist manufacturers of acoustic doors if you need something this is formally certified to 40db otherwise you should be able to achieve what you want usinag a 44mm solid core fire door with acoustic edge seals and an auto drop-down seal eg:

Just to be clear I’m talking about an external door and therefore I value is important - and how would I convert hose options?

    google says: https://www.liniar.co.uk/windows/passivhaus/

Or something from a custom builder with the spec you want, e.g. perhaps:
    http://www.principal-doorsets.com/product-range/doors/
    http://www.enfielddoors.co.uk/acousticdoors/

Or build a porch/lobby with an insulated external door and an acoustic door on the inside.

I built my own door, oak frame 32x 95 round solid fire blank with two sheets of pir, clad inside with oak faced 9mm MDF, outside with left over engineered oak flooring, in a door frame with good draught seals

I can’t be bothered with dg, I am a 3g man, they spin a load of nonsense about dg, in central and Northern Europe 3g has become the norm, and they have some very impressive doors too, bit expensive the doors though.

Google external door 40db and a few companies pop up although not always clear if their external doors have same rating as their internal doors.

After more research I now think a reasonably high u value door from the somewhat uninspirational composite door companies like solidor might be best. U value of about , so good enough and obviously much better than a PIR/PUR door?

    ''U value of about ,''

    Don't keep us in suspense!
