    Can anyone advise how to do this to avoid thermal bridging in the foundations? Figure I can’t use sos as that needs a big slab in order to be stable. Thoughts much appreciated

    You mean in an existing house? And on the existing foundations or digging up the floor and laying new foundations? The thermal question is pretty much like that for an external wall I think. So basically you're going to want a load of load-bearing insulation like perinsul glass blocks or the marmox ones or suchlike.

    And what is sos?

    So obviously my old foundations are not being touched this is literally just a new wall which connects an external wall to an internal one. I don’t think a slab works as you cannot slab he whole floor or if you can it wod be a waste of money

    I was asking about the slab as a half decent slab would probably take an internal wall of light weight 100mm blocks, otherwise what about timber or steel frame and plasterboard?

    Once you get away from the external wall any foundation insulation becomes less and less important. Hence the question about the distance the new wall will be from an external wall.

    What insulation is there currently? If the slab insulation = none then unless you plan to change that I doubt that insulation the foundations of the new wall will be noticeable (especially when you get to about 1,5m from the external wall)

    And similarly for the external wall. What insulation does it have? Is the wall 'warm' or not. If so then you can just connect to it. If not then the junction to it needs to incorporate a thermal break or have IWI on the internal wall.

    Its because of timing, I need the wall up pre insulation and pre screed, basically. Not have to wait to screed is in and then build off that.

    So what is the slab construction? Any insulation under that?

    Any EWI planned on the external wall? If so to what depth (ground level or foundation base?)

    Why not build off the slab ('pre insulation and pre screed', as you say) in Foamglas or Marmox blocks to above FFL, then build a stud wall on top of that?

    Easier to insulate the side of a stud wall against the external wall too. Just put the first stud a little way from the external wall and fill the gap with insulation. Even a stud against the wall would be better than masonry.
