    Isnt the point that the screed layer, which you walk on, conducts heat well?

    I think their argument is that the floor is inherently warmer before heating but im not even sure that is true, unless they are talking about that same pleasant feeling you get from IWI where it sort of radiates

    insulating screeds make the slab/screed itself have a better u value so a lower heating demand. By how much depends on what they are made of I guess. I did a limecrete slab and that had pumice stone in it to help with insulation values - nature's aircrete blocks!
