    Hi all,

My wood pellet boiler is out of action for a week or so awaiting spares.

My issue is I think that the immersion heater thermostat is no good (and was never fit for purpose)

I have done some research on my model number VLK3304 and it is intentionally made without a rest facility if it overheats. See quote below from brochure.

"The unique, patented ‘One shot’ Over Temperature sensing action is impossible to reset by hand, offering a degree of safety by ensuring the control stat which caused the over temperature condition is replaced and nol merely reset to fail again"

The thing is, I have solar coils in the same tank, and during Summer months, the whole tank temperature exceeds 90oC, the cut out for thermostat I think is 81oC.

So I'm about to buy a different model with a reset button, is this something anybody has had issues with before?

    Thanks.

Yes. I have solar thermal and an Immersion heater on a MegaFlow tank. The overtemperature trip on the Immersion trips the immersion, and acts to trip the boiler as well.
Essentially I never use the Immersion - I'm on gas.
However, the immersion trip point was set at about 60C initially, and one hot summer, the tank got to 70C+ on the Solar. When It started raining, and no sun, I found the boiler not running because the trip was holding it off.
Manual reset, all good. Manual reset was a faff, as you have to open things up, screwdriver job.
I have reset the trip to 80C, which the solar never gets to, so its been all good since then.
