Using the supplied home charger from Tesla does anybody know if you can use it like a resistive load to charge from an Immersun or similar device?
I think the variable output may be an issue with the e EVs charge controlller. I'm not sure regarding new EVs but my old nicad van like a steady 13A uninterrupted full charge rather than topping up bits.
What's your PV system size. With a larger system it may be capable of supplying what's needed.
I noticed the other day one of these PV dump controllers was offering a wifi linked socket as another output.
I think you are right about the need for a constant power source. If anybody knows different please comment.
I have read that the aux relay on the Immersun has been used when the relay switch threshold is set (lets say 1kwh) and mains power makes up the difference. The Immersun can be set to check the available power at timed intervals and set to be divert via the relay before an immersion or after an imersion has heated the tank.

From what I've read the chargers have fixed outputs relating to the "mode" of charge, e.g. trickle, fast.

I'm not familiar with Immersun but with other similar devices you can get plugs which will draw when the export gets above a certain amount - you "train" the plug by running the charger for a short time so it knows what the draw is.

There is an ev charger called a Zappi that works with renewables.

Check out myenergi.uk. No connection to me btw.
