    Our UFH people have put our UFH manifold against an uninsulated wall (just in front of the tanking membrane which I suppose insulates a *bit* better than concrete!). We now only realise this after pouring the screed and several weeks later when we come to make the wall build up. There is no play in the pipes so they can't be bent forward. What are our options re insulating the wall and pipes? I was thinking some sort of flexible foil/quilt? If so a recommendation of the best performing one would be great (pipe to wall is only about 10mm!). Thanks in advance for any ideas.
    our basement is a very similar build-up, though I remembered to space ours off the wall so we could build behind it.

    Just to check the obvious - have the used the proper fixings through the membrane to ensure it remains sealed?

    Box it up and pour in polystyrene beads?

    But don't include the pump (or any other electrics) within the insulation

    Is that PEX-A pipe?

    If it is Pex-A barrier pipe (I presume that is why it is red) then how much you can mistreat it will probably depend on what the barrier layer is.

    Plain Pex-A (without considering the barrier) is much tougher and more flexible than appears, especially if you can warm it up a bit with a hot air gun.

    You'll have to be careful not to pull it out of the manifold couplings but if you can ease it forward far enough to clear 12mm or so off the wall you could try to slot some spacetherm+fermacell combi board in there.

    If you could get that board behind all but the last inch or so you could carefully foam the rest?

    If it is some other pipe than Pex-a you need to be much more careful with it though.

    If you can move the manifolds up, all of the red pipes can be extended and pulled forward as much as you like depending on how you extend them. Cant see the detail of the manifold flow or return but guess the same applies to them. Youll then end up with only the very bottom of the pipes with limited insulation.

    Hi all- thanks for your helpful comments. We think we might sheath the pipes as much as possible and box it up. It is quite tight so have elected not to try and move or bend pipes (manifold is connected through tanking membrane using the correct non-leak fittings). Polystyrene balls sounds interesting if we feel we need to do something else. Fitters did know to pull them away from wall- but I guess what's done is done!

    Calculate the heat lost over the expected life and bill the fitters for the cost of it?
