Hi folks, looking to build a belfast or bow string truss for a 6m span, but can't find any design guidelines or reference designs
Can anyone point me towards a good book site or article with some drawings, design guidelines etc, would be much appreciated.
A quick google search showed some standard designs (I had to look 'cos I wasn't sure what a belfast or bow string truss was) You don't say what you are spanning but I presume it will be the roof. If there are any authorities involved they will almost certainly need calculations from your local friendly SE so this I would suggest would be a good place to start.

Truss suppliers will usually have a designer/structural engineer for their products I think.

As PiH says, it depends what you're building but if it's subject to building regs then you'll need an engineer anyway. Timber structures are designed to Eurocode 5 so searching for Eurocode 5 truss design will throw up various books. There's an overview at https://www.trada.co.uk/media/3572/structural-design.pdf
