I use librecad for simple 2D things, and am learning Freecad, which is _really_ clever, but quite hard to get started with as it's 3D parametric CAD, not just lines on a sheet. But it can do finite element analysis and thermal calculations and is dynamically resizeable, and when you take a section through something to get a 2D plot - that plot redraws itself if you size something in the model. There is a fine series of tutorials for using it for architecture: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=freecad+architecture

I think Freecad could be a powerful modelling tool for buildings one day and avoid drawing every junction _again_ (3 times) in therm to get psi values. But not yet - someone has to do some work for that to happen. I'm testing it on my house against PHPP/therm
