  1.
The router & sim arrived just now, and I set it up in literally 5 minutes.
I am pleased to report that the speed is already 5 times faster than before.
That is just in the first window sill that we tried (lounge) when we have time we will try some other locations to get the best spot.

This is a complete game changer for us - we have always struggled for the last 6 years but it hasn’t become a massive problem until we are both trying to work from home - this has actually made it viable.

I am still tempted to try an aerial as well, but it’s not as pressing right now because the broadband has gone from almost unusable to ‘normal’!
We have never expected to stream tv or anything, but this might just make it possible!

    Result, yeah!!!!
  2.
Tried it in an upstairs bedroom on one side of the house and it is getting 25Mbps which is 50 times faster than our current broadband speed.
Looks like an aerial would be a good idea then.

We have entered the 21st Century!

And there we have it, no EE service since noon yesterday (ditto neighbour) let's see how long it takes to be rectified. Switched on old satellite broadband (still paying for it).

That is the problem. Can you claim back if the service offered is not provided? I'd have thought so or is there something in the small print?

Back on this morning, so 36 hour break.

Money off? No idea, but I doubt it somehow.

Some companies will aromatically compensate https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/costs-and-billing/automatic-compensation-need-know - but the scheme's suspended during Covid.

Reminds me of a joke on radio 1 by Chris Evans which he repeated ad infinitum. I didn't get it for a very very long time.
"Two parrots on a perch, says one parrot to the other "can you smell a fishy sort of smell?""

    End of joke.

I Thought aromatic was Ariel's ill-fated attempt to ditch the manual (pedal?) gearbox...
