I’m about to start installing my new Eddi solar power diverter.

The grid current sensor clips need to be on the incoming supply. Unfortunately the incoming supply and meter is in outbuilding about 80 metres from the house. I’ve looked at the wireless sensor, but I don’t thing it will work as we can’t even get a mobile phone signal in most of the house. I was wondering if I could simply extent the sensor cables to the outbuilding from the plant room?

I'm afraid that will depend on the type of signal, the data speed etc etc.

How much power is in use outside of the house (e.g. in the outbuilding)? If you are lucky it is either very little or very consistent - In either case put the clip on the cable coming into the house - and change the thresholds on the Eddi diverter to account for any usage that may be used outside of the house.

PS You can in theory extend the cable. Use screened twisted pair and route it well away from other cables. Don't forget to earth the screen at exactly one end.

 Thanks for the feedback.

I could clip the sensors on the cable as they enter the house. I’ve not seen an Eddi sensor cable, are they something special?

Extending the sensor cable up to 100M is detailed in the user manual:)

The manual is quite specific about siting the CT sensor before any of your load so may need to go in your outbuilding

The Harvi has a range of 30-100m, so may be worth a try.

Mine goes through 2 walls and about 40m and works fine.

The sensor is just a clip round the wire, nothing special.

If the feed into your house carries all the supply then it will work fine connected as it comes into the house.

Do any of you Eddi users have the MyEnergi app?

I was hoping to extract data from it like you can with the SolarEdge (i.e. CSV file). We have grid imports from our own meter logging and PV generation data from the SolarEdge, but I can't tell how much we actually use historically without knowing what's been diverted from our exports.

The data appears to be there on the app (albeit estimated from CT clamp), but I can't see a way to extract it and there's still no web interface I believe.

Has anyone done it successfully?

 DamonHD,

Thanks, that link is helpful.

It's definitely possible to poll the server through a web browser and I've achieved this successfully, but I haven't yet found a way to get this data as a bulk download (i.e. hourly data compiled for several months) without learning Python scripting which is tempting but time consuming.
