    What ho one and all,

A neighbour has this 'trivial' issue, but I also saw it on a recent new wall to a listed property. Having said that, the neighbour's house would be considered new at 10 years old.

The colour of the mortar, obviously mixed in different batches, dries to be considerably different tones. In the neighbour's case, half the garage wall has a mortar tone that sort of blends with the bricks, the other half is closer pale cream.

Just out of interest, why is it so difficult to get the same mortar colour mix when laying bricks?

    Toodle pip

Inaccurate mortar pigment measuring, coupled with differing sand colours, possibly from different quarries?

The amount of plasticiser added brickies' don't measure it just throw it in far too much in my opinion. Don't gauge the sand and cement properly just do it by the shovelful often loose count.

So basically, just plain incompetence by not following the recipe.

I turns a perfectly reasonable looking wall into a visual mistake.
