Apologies if this is inappropriate, but I suspect several here, like me, also frequented this forum, which has now sadly closed.

A shame, as while greenbuildingforum is excellent, Navitron had a somewhat wider focus to cover topics such as electric vehicles etc. A sad, sad, loss.

    Yes.
Why the closure, in this case?

Shame. I and some others on here, plus some on buildhub, were individually cast out from the Navitron forum a few years ago for whatever offences the moderators smoked that morning. So I have mixed feelings regarding its demise  It was what got me started on my whole 'green-tinged' journey though, so I do owe it a debt.

Navitron being wound up and replaced by another company mainly. It's still there for the moment, but you can't post, and I think it will disappear for good at the end of next month. A major shame that no effort being made to archive the volumes of useful information, although some of the members pointed out that you can download a fairly recent archived version of the forum from Google's (I believe it's caled) Wayback Machine (or something).

Yes I've become aware that several people seem to have been banned some years ago! I -think- one moderator in particular may have been on the trigger happy side at the time. I don't think they tended to eject many more recently.

Wash your mouth out  Attempting to associate big, bad google with the angelic Internet Archive!

Whoops! Wasn't their motto once "don't be evil." Wonder when they dropped that...

I've suggested to members they engage here, as it's fairly close in aims and very active, so maybe some that didn't know about GBF will find a new home.

I'm also considering setting up a replacement forum, but I'm not sure it's necessary. While GBF in principle is all about building, in practise a very wide range of renewable and sustainability topics come up here.

I've landed up here, quite dizzy chasing ex Navi members. I hope everyone can regroup under one roof at some point.

Ah! Let's hope it's the final resting place! Thanks for the link. I will certainly hang on here as well, lots if good info, but miss the navi banter!

Yes, a sad and I'm sure avoidable debacle.

Some of the Navitron crew were attempting to download the data and were talking about uploading it somewhere. I'll report back if I find out how they got on.

Some of the Navitron mods set up a replacement forum and were promptly threatened with legal action, if you can believe it, and understandably felt obliged to take it down.

Some of the other members have now set up the following:

    https://camelot-forum.co.uk/

I'd do believe Sir Gareth was an actual knight of the round table so obviously I'll fit right in.

I did wonder about that when I read your post of 4 days ago, Gareth (whether the former forum owners would object). It seems they did. Good luck to Camelot! Will there be a specialist in batteries on there called Surcharge?

Or excess wind energy called Sur-plus, bo-boom. I'll stop now.
