In a similar vein to the Cop26 thread I'm curious to hear opinions on the reports from RethinkX regarding the energy industry. They're arguing that solar, wind, and batteries can offer to replace fossil fuels on the grid within 15 years - and will - based on the underlying economics. In doing so there will be an abundance of cheap power during parts of the year allowing other sectors to decarbonise.
It's an interesting position, optimistic for the climate though quite radical for society. I can't say if they're correct, I have no expertise in this area. I can say in my 40 years I've seen the rise of computing and communication to an almost ubiquitous resource bringing with it new industries. Massive change in a short time.
