Hello, Looking for your recommendations for a decent moisture meter for measuring humidity in wood, especially firewood, plasterwork etc. Perhaps this?

    thank you
  1.
We use a Protimeter Surveymaster, pretty much the industry standard for what we do work wise.

If it's for personal use then just get a cheap one. Trotec do a good range at not a bad price

I get a sample weigh it, dry it, re weigh it and calculate the % moisture - simple, easy and accurate, my scales weigh to 1/1000g so accurate too.

Been using the same Protimeter for 25 years. Checked it with its calibration widget the other day and it's still spot on.

Mine is used for wood but to be super precise oven dry testing is best. As you mention firewood it's worth bearing in mind most moisture meters measure on a dry basis but the new Woodsure firewood regs are measured on a wet basis. 25% on most meters would be 20% by Woodsures system
