I have found the partially filled in forms, however since the installation WPD our local network provider have become part of National Grid.
I cannot find how to do a G98 registration on their new website.

If the battery you add is AC coupled and capable of exporting, its the max possible combined export capacity the DNO wants to know about. If the OPs new battery can export 3.6kw and the PV inverter can do 3kw thats an export total of 6.6kw and theyd definitely want to know about that.

What controls the export is the inverter. What ASFAIU the DNO is interested in is the Manufacturers declaration of conformity according to recommendation G100 "Technical Requirement for customer export limiting schemes". This is the case for all inverters capable of exporting more than 3.6 kw and maybe for those smaller. That conformity details how the limit is controlled. Some are controlled by a clamp on the meter incoming tails others as with my inverter via a systems meter which measures the export and is controlled by the inverter software accessible via an installer password. As an example my inverter is 6kw and have 6kw of panels. The export limit was set by the software and 3.64 Kw until May last year when my limit allowed was raised to 5kw and simply done via the software. If tychwarel is going to fit a battery then he will need some new inverter arrangement and it is that which will control his export regardless of the source of the generation. That's correct if batteries are DC coupled and connected to the existing PV inverter. If the batteries are AC coupled, then its the batteries inverter that limits the batteries export, which is in addition to the existing PV. As mentioned previously that could easily take him way over the 16amp(3.68kw) G98 limit.

G100 is used where the DNO wants you to limit the output of an inverter to less than its type tested output. If you seek permission for a 6kw inverter to operate at 6kw then G100 doesnt come into play. Given that you and I have both had suppliers seemingly not do the paperwork correctly, you might want to take on the paper work yourself. If they're DC coupled batteries theres a fair chance you just need to submit a G98 notification. If they are AC coupled then likely a G99 application is needed. Battery installer should be able to tell you what they are proposing.]]>
