What ho one and all,

Received the latest Lidl e-mail DIY section update. Apparently, I need a their Parkside App to get the most from their Smart Batteries and which I can charge via Wi-Fi.

Don't know how I have managed to survive by just charging my batteries until the light went green then using them.

Had no idea my life needed to be so connected.

Toodle pip

I pick up paper brochures from Lidl and get weekly emails from them as well, and they haven't mentioned anything about a Parkside app to me. Just their stupid Lidl Plus app. I suppose I'll have to scrap all my Parkside batteries and chargers and tools now, and buy new ones all over again in order to get an unholy mix of bluetooth and wi-fi to control everything. Somehow I think not.

Their major sin is to sell their 18V batteries and label them "20V", which even reputable brands have started to copy now.

The app thing is a DIY version of those introduced by the pro tools brands, so a building company might have many batteries to keep track of between their people and want to know which ones are still holding their charge or are coming to end of life.
My neighbour says he can check all his battery 'fuel tank gauges' before taking them out on a job, or tweak the 20% discharge limit to extend their life, and can disable them if they get stolen. Don't think Lidl sells many batteries into that market though!
