We have a Watson and optiplugs linked to our electricity board.

When we're generating, the Watson tells the plugs they can turn on the gadget attached to them. The plugs have been progammed so they know how much electricity the gadget needs. This means we do not need to be around to turn on small electric heaters or the dehydrator when we are generating electricity.

Sadly, the company no longer exists. No one has optiplugs to sell. And ours have been dying, one by one. We are on our last working optiplug. How you do use the electricity you are generating ... when you're not around to use it? Do you know of an alternative to the optiplug ... so that a gadget works without you being present to turn it on and off?

    Many thanks

I think any of the DHW immersion diverters will power your electric heaters if they have a resistive element. Solaredge do a smart plug but AFAIK you need a Solaredge inverter to control it. Maybe ask your inverter manufacturerer if they make plugs??

Assume you're talking about non resistive heating type gadgets, otherwise a solar diverter is the better choice.

"My energy" branded stuff is very customisable and will do what you want via relays that can be set to close at a prescribed amount of generation, or export or anything measurable. For a defined duration too. Quite expensive kit though, will take a bit of paying back.

Some inverters have a built in relay that can be set to close for a period at a set generation amount. Worth checking if that's a cheap option.
