    Hi All..

Just posting to see what comes up..

Have discovered from OFGEM that our proposed heat pump installation would not attact the £7.5k grant as it would be replacing a pellet boiler that received the RHI..

    Any thoughts?

I briefly looked into a heat pump grant to replace my existing biomass log gas boiler ( No RHI grants there ).
My problem was I didn't want a typical monobloc HP but a split one with the heat exchanger next to my existing fully functional biomass accumulator and plate heat exchanger set up. With only a refrigerant pipe connecting the two it seemed simple to me, but I think the idea muddied the water too much.
They would have rather I ripped the lot out and replace it so I gave up. It would have also required an "F" gas fitter, not a problem in my case but a bit difficult for them to comprehend.

You mean the boiler upgrade scheme? If so one of the conditions is "be replacing fossil fuel heating systems - such as oil, gas, electric or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas)", so I don't think replacing a pellet boiler would count. Also "You cannot get a grant for: a property that’s already been given government funding or support for a heat pump or biomass boiler" so I think that counts you out too. But at least you'll have more freedom in choosing the type and conditions of installing your heat pump.

Yes, this is the rule. I checked this out when I was thinking doing the same as you. In the end I got rid of the pellet boiler anyway and reverted to oil (ASHP not suitable for our place). Yes I know....:shamed:
