I took out some plastic air bricks today as vermin had been trying to eat their way into them.

The plastic was brittle, clearly suffering from UV damage.

The void behind them, the short horizontal section before the downward section was completely full of cobwebs caked with dust and detritus to such an extent that air movement would have been severely impeded.

Anyone else encountered this? Or has anyone managed to clean out any periscope vents?

Doesn't surprise me. We get a good dose of spiders, crane flies et al on the input filter of the MVHR every spring plus dust all year. Sad to say, I'd expect any ventilation opening to get fairly clogged if it wasn't regularly cleaned.

I have cleaned Victorian air bricks and some terracotta ones with straight liners but never seen or heard anyone cleaning periscope ones
