I've been asked to clear a blocked waste pipe and so far have got it partly open but it's full of gunk and not easily accesable with a drain rod. Any ideas about a liquid that will dissolve or at least move the grease? Got a 2 metre run to clear.

Try your local ( proper) plumbing supplier, the go to product used to be “one-shot” , nasty aggressive stuff which works, just make sure you are careful use gloves and goggles, open windows etc, also make sure no one else can get near it until its all been well flushed out.
Though you might find one of the foaming supermarket offerings effective.

However you clear it remember that chemicals put down the drains can ultimately end up in a river/lake/sea....mechanical clearing if you can!

Might a regular high-pressure washer, such as Kärcher, have a long enough reach? We use them at work all the time for this (hospital).

I'm using a solutiom of sodium hydroxide (Caustic Soda) so let's see if that works by drawing back using a plunger. As for the terminal destination as pointed out by philedge, it will return, heavily diluted to the sea where our desalination systems remove salt which is used in the production of caustic soda.

Mixing Vinegar and Baking Soda is the traditional cure - at least for smaller basin blockages.

I wouldn't rely on the filtration at the other end, most water will bypass filtration due to 'storm surges'...

When pouring stuff in the drains don't forget you're one of 8 billion people on the planet many of whom also want to pour non sewage stuff down the drains. That's alot of rubbish going into the environment.
