Hi All
I'm changing the thermostatic element on my ladomatt 21-60 and could do with some advice.
The old element was really jammed into the brass collar but the new one doesn't sit all the way. It looks like it needs to be pressed into place. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a) do I need to push it home, and b) how can I do that without damaging the element ?
Also should I replace the o ring on the brass collar at the same time?

Thanks in advance

Jw

As I remember when I changed the thermostat cartridge on my laddomat the item came out easily and the new on went in equally easily. Make sure it is all nice and clean before putting the new element in.

Whenever I take stuff apart that has been in place for some years and will not be disturbed for years again then I replace any rubber bits as a matter of course. So yes I would replace the o ring.

Peter in Hungary - Thanks for your response. It turns out the brass collar the thermostat cartridge was sitting in was the problem in that it was a bit distorted. The spring operated valve below was faulty -the plastic rod that pushes down on the copper disc had broken I ordered up a replacement kit that included the whole assembly so I have a new collar. I thought I was getting just the spring and copper disc bit but I got everything, apart from the thermostatic cartridge which Id bought already, including o-rings, springs etc. I was a bit relieved when the whole assembly arrived today because it cost £70 + which I had thought was a lot of money for a thin copper disc, spring and a bit of plastic. I note the plastic rod has been replaced by a metal one. As the last one lasted 16 years I cant imagine ill be replacing it all anytime soon.
JwD
