Hi everyone

I am looking into ASHP and solar panels for the house I moved into recently. I need a feasibility survey and want to find a trustworthy surveyor and tradespeople. I am currently with Octopus Energy for gas and electricity supply, so I started there, but have had this weird experience where they kept not showing up for initial phone discussion appointments made with them. Three times - with no explanation from the survey department or their customer services. I have no faith that Octopus will be able to do the job if they can't even get this far.

So I'm looking for trustworthy and reliable alternatives in the Havant, Hampshire area. Does anyone have experience of someone like that in this area, please?

Many thanks,
L036

Look for a local Heat Geek engineer for your heat pump. They may well know a reputable solar installer??

My daughter has just had Octopus install their heat pump and is very impressed by the pre and post sales service as well as the team that did the install

Hi philedge. OK, I'll try Heat Geek. Thank you.

I am frankly a bit dumbfounded about Octopus. My impression of the company before this was very good. But I couldn't get the work off the ground, due to the repeated broken appointments (and no explanations apart from 'technical issues' for the first broken appointment).

L036.

 Hi djh

I have no knowledge of the pros and cons of various manufacturers' heat pumps. The website confirms Vaillant only. Is this potentially a problem?

I've only had 6 or 7 ASHP installed for clients, but I can say that Vaillant seem good quality units and more importantly their Tech Support are superb. Vaillant can be bit more expensive, but I'd say it's worth it just for the Tech Support. They've talked me and my installers through a few "set-up" issues, and they know their stuff for sure.

FWIW Octopus installed my (Daikin) and it has worked fine - after a major screw-up was resolved. Octopus did need more chasing than I'd have liked, but you can have variable staffing from an otherwise decent company.

https://www.earth.org.uk/Octopus-heat-pump-journey.html
