England and Wales only (Scotland has a £1,500 rural uplift already).

LPG or oil boilers only so mostly rural/off-grid homes.

Would have been a lot cheaper for us all as taxpayers if UK homes had not been so dependent on gas/LPG heating. Other euro countries spent a lot less than we did on bailing out gas bills.

This year it has been announced the US/Iran gas price cap rise will be starting from July onwards, +£200 in the first step.

Seems sensible fiscal policy for govt to get as many UK homes off gas heating asap, as other countries are doing. We were on our 4th electricity supplier in as many months when Russia invaded Ukraine. Putin added a bit of fuel to a fire that was already raging.

Covid recovery was cited as the reason for gas price hikes so I guess we were just globally burning too much fuel at too low a cost]]>
