    Thats a real shame!

Did you 'cock' up both parts or just the written section?

I would have thought they would tell you the question (if not the answer) to help you figure out where you went wrong, unless of course, the use the same paper, or one very similar.

Sorry to hear that, UrbanVision. I may be joining you.

Tools Exam - Ran out of time so did not answer all questions, especially the one which carried 50% of the total mark. In fairness to BRE, we were told to leave 30 mins for that question. I didn't even begin it. Too thorough with the ones I did answer (got 100% for them!).

Written Paper - Answered every question and almost passed, but made errors in the calcs, which carried double marks! Didn't know that at the time either. (Probably wouldn't have made much difference if I had known.) Otherwise I would have sailed it, BRE said.

So Kavieng, if you are going to resit, make sure you get the email informing you of which tools will be used. They never sent it to me until 3 days before the exam. So I was trying to absorb everything, which for me is not bloomin' possible on top of a full-time job.
    OK, time to stop bleating.

Help! Anyone around who has taken the BRE CSH course and has the Day 3 workbook to hand? Specifically Exercise 6 on page 26 ? Am I missing a page or two from the book? Because I thought this exercise could only be completed when in possession of documents proving the responsible sourcing of the materials? Otherwise you don't have enough data to enter into the Tool.

    Hooray,

Passed the exam! Can't quite understand the marking though - 95% in the calculator tools, and I know I fouled up on the biggest marks question at the end, so was expecting a worse mark - 88% in the multiple choice paper, which I thought I had done better in. I suspect they have the marks mixed up, but who cares. Seriously though, if anyone is facing the exam for the first time soon, I would be happy to chat to them while it is still relatively fresh in my mind. There is definitely a technique to it, and a lot of things that you might spend time needlessly worrying about.

Urban - do you still need that info? I still have my workbook in my desk draw at the office.

    Well done Kavieng!

Wonder if anyone can clarify something in the Code.

I don't fully understand what SPEC ID is and what credit defined /detail defined issues are. Has anyone got their head around this?

For the sake of the exam, forget what a spec ID is I am pritty sure it is not mentioned at all in the exam.

All it actually is, is a name given to a speification. E.g. lets say you were building 10 identical houses, you would have one spec for the taps and water fittings. if you had two different house types, you would have two spec IDs, one for each house type. You may have a different specification for each house, so you would have a spec id for the water fittings for each house. Does that make some level of sense?

as for credit defined/detail defined, I don't remember those phrases! Anyone else?

I agree with Timber re the Spec ID's, it's not in the exam and, if I understand it correctly, when filling out the report just type into the Spec ID box - Plot x flat y Heating System z.

As for credit defined/detail defined, it's not in my copy of the code either. Where did you read it?

Well done to those that have passed. Can I ask are you finding many people are actually taking up the assessment whether through choice or a planning condition? I have spoken to quite a few people who are happy to do 'more sustainable' builds ie extra insulation, renewable heating system etc but not prepared to have the home assessed to a level mainly due to cost and to a lesser extent the water element of it. What are other peoples findings please?
