    Hi,

I'm in the process of renovating a village hall, and we are looking for a competent, reliable GSHP supplier. Does anyone have any recommendations, or otherwise?

Does anyone have any experience of fitting a GSHP to a community building?

    Many thanks

    Paul Howlett

Harrogate Council have fitted GSHP to several buildings - Including I think OAP homes.

Harrogate Council are NOT experts and should not be used as examples (I have dealt with them).

    - when I challenged their 'decisions' I dropped off the invite list to the environmental advisory meetings!

I have designed village hall systems and would never use a GSHP unless there were specific reasons to do so.
(NOT low carbon and NOT low runing costs)

If you go downthe GSHP you are committing yourself to a very specific future that could be wrong; Other options which would allow for multiple fuel choices (or evenan Air Source Solution) will be more flexible over the years (and most likely cheaper).

Regarding the thermal dynamics of the building - Occupancy tends to be very variable in village halls - so using an unresponsive heating system is very wasteful.

Obviously without understanding the nature of the building it is not possible to advise further...

    Thanks for your comments

I sounds like at this stage I might be looking for an open minded heating engineer rather than simply a gshp installation company.

    That's a very good point.

GSHPs do seem to be popular for refurbs of community facilities at the moment because of the avaialbility of grants from LCBP phase 2 and the Big Lottery Fund....using these 2 you can achieve a 100% grant funded project. Prepare to sharpen your pencil though because it's time consuming and you will need an architect and M&Edesigner.
