    Hi

I was going to go for a Mitsubishi ASHP, but after seeing the film End of the Line, I've decided I don't want to help pay for the destruction of blue fin tuna and am now looking around for an alternative model.

Any advice from people who have ASHPs would be great as this is new territory for me. I read on another thread about a new Sanyo model, but cannot find details of it.

    Thanks

    Gav

    Pity .

There is a difficulty in comparing all heat pumps . Unlike with oil or gas boilers where we can consult
http://www.sedbuk.com/ we don't have a similar database for heat pumps .

The university at Buchs Switzerland can test up to 25 heat pumps per year . Manufactureres - or some anyway - volunteer for testing . I personally would draw my own conclusions from Sanyo's omission from the Buchs WPZ reports

This is a link to an EU sponsored field testing of heat pumps in Lahr Germany

    http://www.agenda-energie-lahr.de/WP_Jahresbericht2006-08.html

Sorry but it is not avaialble in English but a review of the latest findings can be seen here , where the summary is translated by a German speaker

You may care to look here too

    http://www.annex32.net/index.htm

A 10 country panel of countries ( not UK or Ireland ) are taking part in international research on heat pump systems . Search around the site and you will find plenty of enthusiasm for heat pumps . But you wont find a Sedbuk style consumer friendly way to compare models however .

Colors to the mast - I am skeptical

    Well I'll be

This database is developing - slowly

    http://www.sei.ie/Your_Building/BER/BER_Assessors/Technical/HARP_Database/Heat_Pumps/

There is a Sanyo model ( if you can find it amongst ALL the others )

My skeptism remains - HARP data base or not

Just to add - I have been checking this data base for about 2 years . It grows slowly . Despite generous grant aid to install heat pumps in Ireland the industry seems coy about supplying data to SEI . I wonder why ?
