Hi. Can anyone give me a ball-park figure for bulk LPG? I need a very rough cost for about 1500 ltrs.

    Thanks.

38.9p a litre on 24th June according to...

    http://www.nottenergy.com/energy-costs-comparison3

makes it about 38% more expensive than oil (kerosene) per kWH.

If you are considering options for heating/cooking...

LPG has been traditionally more expensive than mains gas or oil. We opted for oil heating and LPG in cylinders for running a gas hob (electric oven). Was a bit concerned about using cylinders for the hob but it's worked out very well. We are just coming to the end of our first 47kg cylinder of gas after 2.5 years! It's feeding a 6 burner range hob and we are a family of four.

    Thankyou!!

    No problem.

The LPG market is a stitch up in my view. Just try finding an online comparison site for LPG.

My last LPG bill from Flogas on 1.4.09 was 38.35p a litre PLUS 10.90p 'gas surcharge' plus vat at 5% , making a grand total of 52.57p. Are they taking me for an April Fool?

Serves to back up my view of LPG and oil (and sadly many can't avoid them) as 'unstable' in termss of price.

At least with oil you can shop around and haggle over the price. You can normally save at least 5% by shopping around and playing off suppliers.

They have recently changed the rules on LPG to try and improve competition but the changes are a total joke. You still can't easily shop around get the cheapest to fill you up....you have to transfer ownership of your tank to the new supplier first and I believe that requires a survey. That will take time and will prevent you switching each time you need a fill. Can you even get a price for LPG from the new supplier before you switch?
