I've been dipping in to this site whilst trying to figure out which type of cylinder would be best for our hw/ch system, so thanks to everyone who's posted advice on the subject. I'm thinking of getting a 210l thermal store type with 3 internal coils; solar lowest, boiler above, and mains pressure hot water coil highest. We want this as hot water storage only, and have positioned the cylinder so that any escaping heat either warms the house generally or soaks into the fabric. If anyone has any comments about my choice I'd be grateful because I've no confidence in my grasp of the subject. Also I can vary the position of the inputs so how high would be right for the boiler coil .
    thanks jayem
