Which is best, pros and cons

What do you mean by "best"?
    Most accurate?
    Most complete?
    Easiest to use?
    Most cost effective?
Most verified against real world buildings?
    Most supported?

the ESP-r engine in hot3000 is opensource and has had a lot of research projects associated with it. Another contender for whole system modeling (including all sorts of on-site renewables etc.) is RETScreen http://www.retscreen.net/ang/home.php

Yes Paul, for some reason the Building Simulation category of aecb.net appears only after registration (open to all) and sign-in.

Any and all of those, and more I'm sure. For example AFAIK Hot3000 is just as good as the others but free, but has zero factory back-up/training etc.

Tom, only full members can view certain sections of the AECB boards, including the Simulation category, so you have to pay to see it! Can't think why.
