Sorry Tom, stick by my line..if LB's account for only 2% of emmissions, and they are the hardest/most expensive to sort out, then let's get on with the easy stuff first. There are lots of simple solutions that most people are not taking up. we need to push those, otherwise we risk getting stuck in the mud forever..

For now, yes of course do what's possible, but let's not say that's right and proper or sufficient. It's not about saving a tiny bit of CO2 emissions for the planet's sake - it's about the continued economic viability of our LBs.

Not really. Some of us are happy to accept out historic buildings will not be hermetically sealed, or encased in stuff which might be bad for them, and willing to put up with lower temperatures for a small part of the year. Not all historic buildings are listed, either.

Sad really that I won't be around to be able to take on all these lovely historic buildings Tom thinks will be abandoned! I could do a Mad Hatter's tea party and move around, wearing thermals in the few cold weeks we have, as indeed I do now, and throwing open the doors and windows and enjoying the fresh air in the warm weather!

It's not a warm day today outside, but I'm quite cosy in my historic building with a minimum of heating. Maybe some of us are just hardy.

Oh a hissy fit. Well that's fun too.

I'm called Ev. I know who I am as do many people.

    Lighten up.

No, I'm not at all interested in your hissy fits or pointless tit for tat postings; just don't upset Tom he doesn't like po-faced (or even poo) faced officialdom.

Someone has posted to you privately EV?

perhaps you should reply in the same way?

As far as I know no-one has 'posted privately' to me; however, it's sad that people here cannot accept another POV. I'll keep on pointing out that there is another way with historic buildings than spoiling them.

"We are listed unfortunately and the CO isn't keen on any wall insulation"

a quote from a live thread, is this possible?

Is it possible for an employee of the greenest government ever not to be keen on wall insulation?
  2.
Remember some suggest it's 'Green' as in 'don't know what insulation is' rather than 'Green' in terms of 'there should be lots of it'.
