S.T.- Many thanks for info, reference my Ecolincs link the site appears to have gone lame with lack of information. My past experience encourages paranoia, I questioned emissions quality claims on a biomass proposal, the company involved claimed my data had no foundation and demanded details of source. I gently pointed them to their own website with test data displayed, the website was quickly pulled. This situation has been repeated by another company removing data when I have made reference.
Reference research detailing toxicity concerns for condensates from biomass combustion I have raised this with Regulatory Authorities for plant to burn creosoted timber and sewage sludge ,scheduled to produce 4 million litres of toxic output/yr/MW of output in a prime vegetable growing area. No response!Plant approved

Brian

 Brian
Make a copy of the webpage first and the data that it was created and the date you saved it. Just because they pulled the page does not mean they are not using still using that data.

I know I should not read this paper but I was out and it was The Mail or the last weeks West Briton but this article caught my eye. Just bear in mind that it can be used by both sides, interesting tactic all the same. And remember, even if you can't download something or find that any diagrams and illustrations/graphs, whatever, don't copy and paste, you can always use the 'Print Screen' key (sometimes just 'PrtScr') to copy the whole page as a "photograph".

You then click the Start button, 'All programs', then up to 'Accesories' at the top of the list which opens a side menu. Open 'Paint' and just click Edit (at the top of the computer screen - PCs only), then paste and the page off the website will be there. Just save it and then go back and do all the rest of the pages which, if it's of any length is going to be a real pain in the ass. Depends if it's worth it.

You could always just use the crop facility in Paint to take out and keep any graphically represented information and just copy and paste the whole of the text of the subject web page into Word or Works and then physically cut and shut to make up a facsimile document.

Actually not as much of a faff as it sounds.

But would appreciate anyone else's suggestions.

Actually ST, I've found the Mail Online to be surprisingly active on "issues", where other rags simply don't give a toss. Still a blot on the media landscape though.

In one of the blog responses following the article someone mentioned the McLibel case, which I thought would have shut the Carter-Ruck clowns up. Jeez, can you imagine the impact a success on these grounds would have for the whole principle of freedom of speech? I can see its implications for the biomass plant arguments.

Might be a good idea if Carter-Ruck did take it the whole way because the evidence from both sides would then get an airing in open court - unless they pulled the fast one of claiming "commercial sensitivity" to block full disclosure of their evidence - such as it is.

I like a bacon sandwich as much as any other carnivore, but establishments like this reduce the operating costs to the producer only, not the price paid by the consumer. It's about maximising profit, fair do's, but there is a limit to what you should be allowed to do in order to take it to obscene levels, especially if you insult the intelligence of your consumers in the process by claiming you're doing it all for them.

Interesting and useful advice- thanks. I have made point of hard copying any data that could be used in evidence in any legal action having been threatened with libel proceedings . I have tended to bat it back with suggestion they provide data to back their claims . A typical scenario is I attended meeting where senior company spokesman admitted plant emissions exceeded limits which was cause of local air quality problems, they were taking remedial action but restricted by choice of fabric filters which I had questioned at time of application. I spotted application for identical plant in sensitive location so wrote to local press suggesting emissions claims should be subjected to serious scrutiny prior to any decision(based on experiences with first plant) . The Company involved threatened legal action and confirmed they had demanded the newspaper involved pulled my submission. They also confirmed any intimation that their plant exceeded limits would result in immediate legal action.Difficult situation when plant emissions problems admitted verbally but sadly not documented .
My wife has confirmed she will prison visit and I must at least use my knowledge to try and increase awareness of combustion impact but take care folks because sadly the truth / morals / duty of care can becomes irrelevent if serious money is involved.

Rgds
Brian

When raising concerns with Local Authority on need to scrutinise use of biomass combustion at schools I did suggest possible use of HEPA masks for children( hoping it would provoke thought). Further research questions how effective they are in removal of fine particles when aware biomass combustion particles are mainly PM 2.5 and substantially sub micron. The big problem with biomass combustion is effective/economical removal of PM.
An interesting point was raised in the forum suggesting running school boilers at night especially when new Swedish legislation is considered which requires all new biomass boiler systems to include buffer tanks in order to allow system to operate in most efficient mode and minimise air pollution. I understand children under 14 are at special risk due to their developing respiratory systems.
I find it ironic that hospitals ban smoking in grounds but spend £millions on installing biomass combustion when the PCT is very aware of impact .
Brian

I think that the important point about filters is that they reduce the particulates for a given volume. This is not about the 'best filter to use to reduce particulates' , that would be another thread I think (They have huge filters in tin mines, well all mines, filter material was made in High Wycombe and the seals where made in the East Midlands if I remember right).

Well young joiner hoping you can control the urge to become a Berlusconi and reverse 18/67 roles . I suspect that would upset a certain lady. Something that may bring a wry smile, our washing machine sadly died, the delivery men removed packaging from new machine and suggested I dispose of it in woodburner. They quickly disappeared when I began detailing possible impact consequences.

I qualify to call you young(but only by 2 yrs) !
Brian
