    I keep seeing offices with all the blinds closed and all the lights on

    dont they realise that if they opened the blinds they wouldn't need the lights on


    This is the complete opposite of energy saving

    Bad design and idleness tony, for every person who cares there are a hundred that don't, ( not bovvered ). Double the cost of electricity and watch that sharpen things up.

    Not agreeing with leaving the lights on but I used to work in an office where sun through the window made using computer screens very difficult (and what office has no computer screens nowadays?).Perhaps they need to have Brise soleil's fitted.

    Don't know about the wasting of electricity but one thing for sure for a lot of people the price of petro; and diesel is obviously way too cheap. I see several times a day people sat in their cars in car parks or at the side of the road waiting for the summer to arrive with their motor running. The worst offender seem to be taxi drivers waiting at the rank. What is wrong with these people.

    I have to say that I have not noticed any poster from the government alerting people to the advantages of switching your motor off when not driving!!!

    I have a rattling auxiliary belt tensioner, I switch of when stationary as I hate the noise.

    Bad lighting is a problem in offices, I used to work at the RNIB Head Office and they had quite sophisticated lighting and heating. I learnt a lot from that and having cataracts, caused by UV damage, that means that I cannot have a window in front of me when working and have to wear sunglasses when out even when cloudy. So I have a bit of a unique relationship with windows, blinds and artificial lighting.:cool:

    A lot of the problem is building design and tight developers. Whilst some people at the edge of a building may be able to use natural light towards the core they cant so on go the lights. A well designed building has then zoned from teh core out so they can be switched off as and when natural light is available.
