I would combine retail shopping with rail/bus stations, a decent cafe that does not charge too much (anyone want to see the picture of the second cup of tea I got out of a £2.20 pot), a library may be a good idea, just return the book to any station. Comfy warm waiting rooms (may need a soup kitchen for the vagrants, PZ seems to attract them, and their dealers/pimps).

Not sure you can have a station in a city centre without serious problems in rebuilding and noise. OK for an end of line, though it did nark me that MK station was not next to the shops.
Parking is an odd one, thought the idea was to stop us using cars, not just reduce the milage, what I always hear.

I know someone who got home to find his bike lock glued up with superglue so he couldn't open it. When he went back to try to force the lock someone had already done it and been away with the bike overnight.
