    Hi,

Wondering if we have any handy Arduino coders here who might be able to help with this one

I help run our local community/volunteer run outdoor swimming pool and we have recently installed a 21 panel solar heating system which is controlled by RESOL kit. We have a datalogger and SD3 public display but as this is powered off the Vbus no one can read it unless they are having an unoffical night swim. The project is 100% grant funded and one requirement is that we display our data publically - I have been hunting for a working solution and keep coming back to the possibility of using an Arduino to read the Vbus data and display it via an LCD. I can handle some of the coding but not the Vbus (RS485) data intercept - is there anyone out there who might be able to help with this aspect? I have the Vbus protocol and an RS485 arduino shield.

    Appreciate any thoughts :-)

I expect there are some here, but try the Navitron forum where the subject comes up regularly

The Resol Vbus Google Group (groups.google.com/group/resol-vbus) is a useful source of information and advice. Vbus isn't RS485 but some RS485 devices have been used successfully with Vbus.

Other options would be to use Resol Vbus accessories (eg. DL3, DL2, Vbus/USB, Vbus/LAN) via an Arduino or other suitable equipment.

Thanks for the pointers folks - I have followed them up - will keep you posted with how I get on. A nice arduino library would be ideal

i'm trying to do similar - have an arduino and trying to control the LED lighting in my new build/renovation project using DMX. DMX is an rs485 protocol I believe and there are libraries to handle this

It's all at the prototype stage at the moment but if you look for DMX or RDM (RDM being a bi-directional form that runs with DMX?) and arduino you may stumble across something useful

I bought myself a £30 DMX shield for the arduino a week ago. Now I have realised that a 99p chip is all I needed so I'm learning fast :)

    Thanks Steve,

For hardware take a look at this: http://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=35_39&product_id=264 You can get them in the UK for about £10 if you search - I have sucessfully received RS485 on this.... but not Vbus as yet.
