CWatters,
All of my holes that are too large are in bathrooms. It looks as if that plate is not suitable. How can you fill holes and make it look neat and tidy though? I do not want to replace the whole ceiling. Aurora have a fitting that will take a GU10 LED but I wanted to get away from GU10 LED's if I could. That is why I went for the JCC with a 10 year warranty. My holes are 85mm in the bathrooms. The unit must obviously be IP65 and fire rated.
Gusty.

It can be done if you are careful. Cut pieces of plasterboard say 150 long x say 83mm with a hole in the middle the correct size for the down-lighters. Cut further pieces 85mm dia with holes the correct size.

Dob dri-wall adhesive onto each end of the 150 x 83mm pieces, insert them through the holes and pull down onto the ceiling. Insert the circular inserts with a bit more adhesive. Use self-adhesive scrim and pl'bd joint filler to provide a smooth feathered finish. Rub down as required. job's a good 'un.

Adopt, adapt, improve.

Nick

 Nick,
I had thought of a similar repair job but I have 600mm of rockwool in my loft. I would wreck my lovely insulation trying to get the bits of plasterboard into the loft and under the insulation,
Gusty.

Could you not do it all from below? The sizes I had suggested allowed for inserting them from underneath, through the holes. The insulation will actually help compress the dri-wall adhesive.

Nick

I got you! It takes a while to sink in. Yes this repair would be a possibility. Time to repair all the holes to a good standard could be a problem though. I will have a look tomorrow. Many thanks Nick,
Gusty.
