Can anyone recommend good resources on the technical aspects of designing and installing an off-grid PV system? The only resource, I can find on amazon which seems that it may meet my needs is very expensive: "Planning and Installing Photovoltaic Systems: A Guide for Installers, Architects and Engineers". I'm looking for something beyond the basics with a lot of technical detail on the design and installation of these systems.

Try PRACTICAL PHOTOVOLTAICS, 3rd edition, Dr Richard Komp, revised 2001 ISBN 0-937948 11 X

Getting a bit old now, but a comprehensive manual on theory, manufacture, present and future of PV, as well as detailed DIY manual for installation and maintenance. Did you know a defective PV cell may be still usable, by breaking it in half and discarding the half found defective?
