Has anyone had any experience or knowledge on the new Gaia remote monitoring and what the costs are?
    Thanks

I've got a factory version which is a modem sending data back to the factory for analyses (in order to resolve my rotor overspeed message error) they'll have it back once the problem is traced. Anyway, the customer remote monitoring unit is not the same and is really AFAIK only just a basic unit telling you if the turbine is working, wind speed, kW and gearbox temp. You can't send to the turbine to over ride any error status etc. I could be wrong, as they may have updated it, but wasn't worth the money when I enquired. I was told about £1400 but that surely can't be right. Better to look out of the window!

Thanks windy lamb. Don't know how they can justify money like that. As you say we shall carry on looking out the window. They should give you yours for the hassel you've had.

    Thanks Bobdbuilder,
I'm not sure I got the price correct but I've heard that it's not worth the money - more of a toy than a tool. Was supposed to be a standard fit on the turbine but Gaia hadn't included it as of June 2011.

Not sure remote monitoring would be of use to me as I've got so used to walking across the field to cancel the "rotor overspeed" error, there's a well worn path!
Apart from the error message thing I am quite happy with it's performance though.
