Hi, I am new here. We came across this site by accident while hunting out green building alternatives. We are a small farm in lower himalayan mountains of India. We are completely off grid and are in the process of experimenting with various technologies as we try and create a model sustainable farm. I have been peeking around the forum and hope to take your advice on a small 2kv solar panel that we are planning to install if we win a grant by popular vote. So keeping our fingers crossed. Do you want it to charge batteries then get converted to AC to run electrical gear or are you intending to run everything at your battery voltage?
Do you know your Latitude and Longitude then it should be possible to get your weather regime as this will make a huge difference to the system performance.
I don't know anything at all about solar panels, but i do remember being in Nepal on a trip about 8 years ago and there were several freak hailstorms with ice nuggets the size of marbles which smashed a good percentage of the solar panels in the town. I hope technology has moved on to provide tougher panels ....
