Although the recent changes to imeasure have enabled access to much more data, the GBF Community seems to serve little purpose in comparison with our old Carbon Club.
The number of members submitting data in the last 4 weeks is low at 28.57% (previously 33%); the old Carbon Club did have up to 50% submitting data but one could see the bar graphs and CO2 per head for each household. This sort of comparison is not available now and the aggregrate data seems seriously flawed. For the whole of Imeasure the typical annual energy use (kWh/person/year) is 13812kWh for electricity and 7869kWh for gas - which seems wrong.
I have also noticed a discrepancy in totol kWh of annual gas used; for 2011 I recorded 10703kWh but i measure assessed me at 9860kWh pa ( I use 31.6kWh for 100ft3 of gas and 11.36kWh pm3).
When contacted, Alex on Imeasure replied " It looks like we use 30.1kWh per 100ft3 and 10.8 per m3. There could be some discrepancy due to whether you count 265 days or 52 weeks though I am sure these are all accounted for.
The typical energy use is based on the data of all users in iMeasure and there are some errors in some users accounts which have caused these much higher than realistic calculations. It is something we know about and we hope to have a fix for it soon, but as iMeasure is a free service we have very little development resources."

I still use imeasure and its trend lines. I now also use smeasure for my daughter's school.

The league table was one of its most valuable and often motivating features and I'd like it back.

The effect of the kWh/m^3 is significant: I use 11.1 and get slightly different numbers to imeasure and the Climate Change Cup sites. That doesn't alter the broad value of them all as I can see my consumption dropping each year and against HDD.

Rgds

Damon

I did join imeasure some time ago, and tried to join gbf community. Nothing seemed to come of it, and it was a bit boring entering data with no comparisons. I tend to log in excell, and you can easily save .csv and bulk upload to imeasure from there.
I've just logged in again, and it still just says "membership status requested". I feel a little snubbed :-(

I think I originally joined a year ago, then finally loaded up data 3 months ago(worked) and tried to join GBF community (hasn't worked).
Are the T&C on the imeasure or GBF website ?

Nb: thanks Damon - Have tried to join "zero" too. I am a bit worried now that our house isn't "zero". It is my ambition though.

Nbb: Piccy of gas used over last 5 years attached. 1963 house, 4 bed, 2 adults+2kids. I think we used ~18MWh/year when we moved in, dropped to 15MWh/year with cavity wall insul. This year am aiming for 7MWhr/year.

As an aside, a little example of how this stuff can work well. Over the last two weeks I noticed gas use at school well above the amount projected by smeasure (measure's commercial cousin) allowing for the weather and alerted the bursar and building manager.

Turns out that there was a boiler fault causing it to run 24x7. It was costing them £n00 per week over my expectations and the repair is £1000, so the calculus is very obvious to fix it ASAP.

The building manager spotted the chimney belching steam at the weekend: I'm hoping that my numbers may have helped pinpoint the issue sooner!

Rgds

Damon

imeasure have recently emailed a survey including questions on what features you would like to see added (reinstated) as they appear to have some resource to implement them now!

If you have an imeasure account, dig out the survey and fill it in then maybe we will have a more user friendly compare and compete element in a month or three.

Done, the survey appeared to be from East Anglia, maybe they're taking over from Oxford? It has had some rather unbelievable results recently. e.g. Fuel use down year on year but dived from A to C as we went into the new tax year - and still a C this week. Even more bizarre as weather-compensated fuel use was 43% below predicted.

I'd just started a community for people I'd advised to join but now I'm a C it doesn't seem such a good idea!
